Edvard Grieg appraisal well successfully completed

The well 16/1-18, which was drilled 2.4 kilometers east of the Edvard Grieg production platform in the Norwegian North Sea, encountered approximately 62 metres of oil bearing sandstone. The objective of the well, which was the appraisal of the reservoir properties in the south eastern part of the Edvard Grieg field as well as optimizing the field's drainage, has therefore been successfully met. A production test was carried out demonstrating good permeability accross the oil zone. The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 2,361 metres below mean sea level (MSL) at a water depth of 109 metres.Wintershall is a partner in the Edvard Grieg licence PL 338 with a 15% interest. Lundin Norway is the operator with a 50 percent share. Further partners ar OMV Norge AS (20 percent) as well as Statoil Petroleum AS (15 percent).
