Minister of Petroleum visits Wintershall rigMinister Søviknes visits the drilling operations on the Maria field and announces the APA 2017 licensing round.

On 2 May 2017, the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr. Terje Søviknes, visited the drilling rig Deepsea Stavanger. The rig is currently drilling on Wintershall’s Maria field in the Norwegian Sea.

The visit was hosted by Wintershall CEO Mario Mehren, board member Martin Bachmann and Maria Project Director Hugo Dijkgraaf. The minister also brought good news as he announced the next APA licensing round on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The licensing round will include 87 new blocks and represent one of the largest increases in exploration acreage ever. This news was broadcasted live from the rig on the Norwegian news channel TV2 Nyhetskanalen, and also aired on the evening news on TV2 and on NRK Møre og Romsdal.
