Prominent visit for Wintershall: Energy Minister at Wintershall Norge Bergen. Yesterday afternoon, Oil and Energy Minister Tord Lien visited Wintershall’s office in Bergen. Managing Director Bernd Schrimpf and Technical Director Alv Bjørn Solheim from Wintershall Norge gave Lien some first-hand insights into the Wintershall business and discussed plans for further growth on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The Minister was shown around the modern facilities where he also took a look behind the scenes of the company’s onshore operational base that, together with Wintershall Norwegian headquarters in Stavanger, controls the Brage platform more than 100 kilometres from the mainland.
Together with Lien, Schrimpf and Solheim discussed among other things the possibilities for further developing the Brage Field and the agreement agreed with Statoil in September. Through this transaction, which is expected to be concluded by the end of 2014, Wintershall will further expand its production of oil and gas and reserves in the North Sea and will also take over the operatorship of Vega, which already represents Wintershall’s second operatorship of a producing field in Norway.
The Minister’s visit was awaited with pleasure. “This afternoon has once again shown that the Norwegian government recognises the commitment made by us in recent years,” said Bernd Schrimpf. “We are resolutely continuing our growth course in Norway.”
