Impact assessment programme proposalPursuant to the provisions of the Norwegian Petroleum Act (petroleumsloven), the licensees in production licence PL 475BC/CS present herewith for public consultation an impact assessment programme proposal (assessment programme).
The assessment programme proposal represents the first stage in the process of development and operation of the Maria field. Maria is an oil and gas field discovered in 2010. The discovery is located in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea and is estimated to contain between 60 and 120 million barrels of recoverable oil, and between 1 and 3 billion standard cubic metres (Sm3) of gas. Two development concepts are being evaluated for the Maria field. The first involves a stand-alone development using a floating production and storage vessel. The second is a subsea development tied back to one or several host platforms. The selection of the development concept will be viewed in the context of results obtained from the drilling of an appraisal well at the northern extremity of the field. The development concepts which remain valid following drilling will be evaluated and documented as part of the impact assessment of the Maria field. The assessment programme proposal has been prepared in compliance with the most recent guidelines issued for the preparation of PDOs/PIOs by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) in 2010. The assessment programme describes the various development concepts, the current schedule for the Maria project, and issues which will be evaluated in more detail as part of the impact assessment. In consultation with the MPE, a 12-week consultation period has been determined. We request that any comments or remarks be submitted to the operator, Wintershall Norge ASA (Wintershall), with a copy to the MPE. It will also be possible to download the assessment programme proposal from the following website: www.wintershall.no
