Wintershall Norge renews partnership with Stavanger Symphony OrchestraWintershall and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (SSO) enter into three-year co-operation agreement from January 2018

Stavanger. Wintershall Norge has proudly renewed its support for the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra for another three years, underlying its commitment to promoting arts and culture in the areas it operates. By supporting SSO, the German oil and gas company is investing in one of the most exciting orchestras in Scandinavia, and actively contributing to the quality of life in the community.

“Partnership is important to us at Wintershall Norge. And we are committed to being a responsible social citizen. With our main office in Stavanger, SSO is a natural partner for us. We have enjoyed over the last three years watching the orchestra being creative, open, responsible and entrepreneurial. These are also our values at Wintershall and I feel confident that we will enjoy another three years being inspired by one of the most exciting orchestras in Scandinavia,” said Bernd Schrimpf, Wintershall Norge, Managing Director.

Since moving into Stavanger’s newly built concert hall in 2012, SSO has reached new heights of creativity and acclaim both inside and outside Norway. With Christian Vasquez as its Chief Conductor, the orchestra has become renowned amongst other things for its authentic performances of the Baroque and Classical repertoire. The orchestra has also enjoyed successful recent tours of Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia, Lahti in Finland and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. SSO returns to the prestigious Concertbouw in Amsterdam on December 10.

SSO Director Morten Warland, welcomed the renewed partnership with Wintershall and promised that the next three years would bring even more success and surprises.

“We have enjoyed working closely with Wintershall for the last three years, utilising our partnership to reach for creative and innovative ways of performing our work. I know that Wintershall also works this way, and through its support, SSO will reach for even greater heights of creativity. We have some exciting projects bubbling in the background. With the continued collaboration and partnership with Wintershall, the outlook is that the next three years could be some of our most exciting years ever,” said Warland.

Wintershall Holding GmbH, based in Kassel, Germany, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF in Ludwigshafen.
